Description of the original artifact from the museum itself: The most beautiful sundial from the Roman era in Bulgaria and the Lower Danube lands was discovered in Durostorum – Silistra. It dates from the II-III century AD. Under the high-relief clock disk is the Thracian god Orpheus with a lyre in his hand, and around him a large group of animals held their breath from the wonderful melodies. The stage is flanked by two columns with Corinthian capitals, on which are represented the eastern gods – the Egyptian Serapis and Isis. There is no analogue among sundials in the Roman Empire.
