Our Materials

Our Materials

CoinAntix offers ancient coin replicas in silver, gold, bronze and copper, alongside terracotta reproductions in our wider collection. The material and surface finish both contribute to the appearance of a piece. Each product listing or individual quotation provides its own specifications.

Silver: 925 Sterling and 999 Fine

Sterling silver contains 92.5% silver, alloyed with other metals. Our standard silver replicas are made from solid 925 sterling silver. The finish can range from a brighter silver surface to darker tones created during finishing.

If you prefer 999 fine silver, contact us to request your coin in this grade instead of 925 sterling silver. We will confirm the revised price before you order.

See our Classical Athenian Owl tetradrachm replica for an example.

Gold: 14k and 24k

Our gold coin replicas are available by enquiry only and are made to order in 14k or 24k gold. Contact us to discuss your choice and receive an individual quotation before ordering.

On request, we can share several catalogues of Greek, Roman, Byzantine and other historical gold coin designs not published on the site. Any coin design shown on our website in another material can also be made in 14k or 24k gold.

We use our existing designs and coin dies. We do not offer custom designs.

Bronze and Copper

Bronze is a copper-based alloy. We also offer replicas in copper, identified separately in their listings. The alloy and finishing process influence the final colour, so use the stated material to guide your choice. Our Vespasian Judaea Capta sestertius replica is an example from the bronze range.

Terracotta

Terracotta is fired clay. Our terracotta collection includes historically inspired vessels and other reproductions, with the dimensions and finish described in each listing.

Surface Finishes and Patina

Some replicas are artificially aged or chemically patinated to create the intended surface appearance. Patina describes the surface finish; the material description identifies the body of the piece. Photographs illustrate the finish offered, with any variation explained in the listing.

Historical Coin Types and Replica Materials

A coin name identifies a historical design or denomination. The replica may use a different metal from the original type. For example, a silver replica of an aureus design is made in silver. Check the material stated for the item you are buying.
