Nude Satyr Pan Faun Bronze Figurine Greek Mythology Hot Cast Lost Wax Method “Cire Perdue” Aged with Oxidized Green Patina Museum Reproduction SB0003

33,00

Bronze figurine depicting the mythological creature satyr, nude in aroused state, happy to show his Phallus. The Satyrs were mythological creatures with the upper part of their body of a man and the lower half of a goat. The leader of the Satyrs was god Pan. Usually the Satyrs resided in woods and mountains or were accompanying the Greek god of wine Dionysus on his journeys, dancing around joyfully with the Nymphs and drinking. The Satyrs also gave their name to a specific type of theatrical play, the satiric drama, that parodies popular myths of Greek gods and heroes. The Roman name of Satyrs is “faun”. Made from hot cast bronze (Lost wax method) the figurine embeds genuine relief and has been aged with oxidized green patina.

Satyrs have a deserved reputation for assaulting nymphs, and stealing cattle. Satyrs bear on their foreheads small bony protuberances that in a goat would grow into horns. They are often depicted as intoxicated and sexually aroused.
While satyrs have been called a worthless race, satyrs teach us it is foolish to underestimate the overwhelming power that the sexual instinct possesses to create complex delusions and illusions.
