Marcus Julius Philippus was Roman Emperor from 244 to 249 AD. Sympathetic to Christians it has been claimed by some that he was a Christian himself, which if true, would make him the first Christian Roman Emperor. Born in modern day Syria he was commonly referred to as Philip the Arab.
